Who? What? Where? Huh...?!?!

Welcome to our little home on the web!

Allow me to introduce ourselves and explain: What is Renewed Threads?

Well... Celeste and I (Silkie) are looking to concentrate in Entrepreneurship at Simon Fraser. One of the classes we were so excited to take for our concentration is Bus 361 - Project Management. I made us take the Wednesday morning class in Surrey because I've heard nothing but great things about the Prof. Andrew Gemino.

We knew that for our group project, we got to pick our groups which is why we wanted to take it together. But it takes more than two!! Anyway, the first day of class I came in (late) and just sat down at the table by the door...next to Nima! When Celeste got to class (late), she asked we had seen him before through friends. I'm not sure how we ended up with Nima on our team because I left the room and next thing I know, Celeste has worked her magic! And then there were three...

At some point in the first lecture we had to do a group discussion, being the front row we couldn't collaborate with those in front of us, and so we turned around and discussed with the people sitting behind us and that's how we met Ksenia! And then there were four.

Then came the point in the class when Gemino said that we had to get into our groups and start figuring out our project ideas. I guess Ksenia had been talking to Carlo who had been sitting next to her... and finally, there were five!

So now that you know how we haphazardly came together, what is Renewed Threads?

To quote one of our classmates,
"What are you doing for your project? Let me guess... it has to do with fashion because it has you (points to me), and her (points to Celeste) and well, she's well-dressed too (points to Ksenia)"
Celeste suggested the idea of selling our old and more importantly, unworn clothes at SFU Burnaby, just renting a table for a week and seeing how that goes. You know what I mean by unworn clothes... clothes that are hanging in your closet... maybe with the tag still on... or wore once or twice... those clothes!! So we proposed doing something like that but since one of the conditions of our projects was that it had to have an element of community to it, we decided the proceeds would go to charity; later on, we realized to have optimal community impact, we should target the local community as opposed to SFU students

Fast forward to week 4 of the semester, our project has evolved into:
A lightly- used old clothes and accessories drive: the collected items will be sold for a week at a local community center targeting those whose buying power has been affected by the recent recession. The clothing and accessories that remain unsold will be donated along with the proceeds to victims from the recent flash flood and typhoons in Manila.

Until next time world!
